We remain thankful for the strong network of Otu Umunne Alumni sons and daughters (Ọkpala Ugo and Ada AdaUgo). Most of them passed through Otu Umunne programs, remain proud of their Igbo/Nigerian/American heritage, and have cultivated a strong network.

Otu Umunne Cultural Organization, Inc., Georgia, was inaugurated December 12, 1986
A Georgia Non-Profit Corporation and Federal 501(c)(3) Corporation.
Started on December 12, 1986, at the house and basement of our founding mothers, Otu Umunne has grown in her vision, services, and programs to become the most viable, most visionary women organization of our time.
The oldest Nigerian Women service organization in America. Otu Umunne has remained focus and true to the vision, mission & motto of this noble organization – “Children are our business, our greatest asset and pride. We are “Impacting the Future, One Child at A Time Through Cultural Education, Sponsorship, and scholarship awards. This is made possible by funds and donations from people like you.

Otu Umunne has resolved to promote global awareness of our rich Igbo-Nigerian cultural heritage, educate, nurture and support children, women, families, and communities.

Membership is open to any woman, 18 years and older who is committed to the mission and vision of the organization and committed to raising funds to support the organization.

As the oldest Nigerian women’s service organization in the Americas, we thank God for using Otu Umunne Cultural Organization, Inc. as a catalyst for the formation of numerous Igbo, Nigerian and some African organizations in the United States and beyond. The organization has fostered unity and understanding among children, young adults, women, families in various communities in the USA and Nigeria. We remain thankful for the strong network of Otu Umunne Alumni sons and daughters who are proud of their Igbo/Nigerian/American heritage.

Our History

The inaugural meeting of Otu Umunne Cultural Organization, Inc., Georgia, was held on December 12, 1986, at the home of Dr. Christian Mbamalu and Mrs. Chiebonam “Chi” Ezekwueche in Macon, Georgia.

Present were Mrs. Chiebonam “Chi” Ezekwueche (Founder); Founding Members (Mrs. Ada Ngoddy, Mrs. Ego Ndukwe, Dr. Leticia Muforo, Mrs. Nkiru Adibe and Mrs. Obiy Adibe.)
